“It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.” Winston Churchill
Many of us send and receive inspirational messages via email and facebook when a new year has just begun. Perhaps some of us make the so-called ‘obligatory’ new year’s resolutions. Instead of planning your future, we invite you to to take a moment and fully focus on the present. What is your body-temple experiencing right now? Simply notice…without changing it. How do you feel emotionally? Breathe deeply and slowly into your emotions without judging them. Again, simply notice and then allow what is, to be what is.  Observe your thoughts.  Do you label and judge them as positive or negative? Sit quietly with your thoughts…breathe into them and any busyness of the mind. All we ever really have is the present moment. There is no future…no past. There is only now.
This may raise questions for us, “if now is all there is, then what is time? Why celebrate a new year? Why plan? We invite you to meditate on these questions to receive the answers that are ‘right’ for you. We invite you to let go of projecting into the ‘so-called future’ and to simply live in each moment. How? My three favorite questions to help me are: “what time is it?” And the answer is, of course, “now!” “Where am I?” And the answer is, of course, “here!” And the third question is, “who am I?” And that, of course, can be answered in a myriad of ways. I suggest the answer is “love!” (And, no, the answer is not a wife, mother, friend, doctor, dancer, etc.)
What else can we do to remember to live in the moment? Do your best to slow down; to observe; to be aware of your thoughts, feelings, words, and actions; to remember you are right where you are supposed to be, and to breathe! It is important to connect to one’s Highest Self. Let us choose (many times a day) to stop during our day and make a “new resolution.” Our new resolution will likely change in each moment. It may be to choose; love, or awareness, to feel our emotions, perhaps to simply breathe. If living fully in the present moment seems daunting, perhaps choose a ‘theme’ for your day and do your best to live it. Declare, “Today I choose peace!” Or today, “I choose kindness.” You are once again invited to close your eyes and fully feel the Presence of the Creator within you. Feel the spiritual power you are because the God-Creator is within you. Feel your entire Being filled with Divine Love and Light. Know and trust that we are all Divine Love and Light. We are all connected.
