A new year has begun! You may have made resolutions in order to attract something new, different, better, etc. However, consider the necessity of letting go…to release from your life (people, emotions, situations, attachments, etc.) in order to not carry them into 2024. Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Do not resist them – that only brings sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” Consider grief is one emotion that you resist because it is painful. Yet it must flow! It must move naturally forward. Grief and sorrow cannot be controlled or managed.  They need to unfold organically.  All of life is movement.
When we gently surrender and allow life to be life, we enjoy it more. We are more present to The Presence. Remember: something isn’t happening TO you, it is happening FOR you.
In 1965, the rock band The Byrds (inspired by spiritual writings) sang “there is a season…a time to every purpose under heaven.” Of course, there is a time to create something new but there is a time to grieve and let go. We invite you to ask yourself, “what am I resisting? What do I need to grieve and release in order to move forward?  What shall I acknowledge so that I may transform it?”
Surrender and go with the flow of life. Do not resist what is.
